ROWING: A magnificent seven Marlow rowers have been selected for the South East of England team after the Inter-regional trials at Dorney Lake.

The super seven, including six from Great Marlow School, will now represent the regional team at the Inter regional championships in Nottingham on April 27th.

In the Junior 15 single sculls, Jack Hockley beat 13 other boys to win his place, while in the Junior 14 girls quad sculls, Rachael Finnis, Sarah Briggs, Leigh Merrifield and coxen Kelley Weston won their event with Alice Denyer of Wycombe High School. They beat Maidenhead by five seconds.

Phil Shelley From Great Marlow also gained selection in the Junior 14 boy's double sculls in partnership with Abingdon's Tom Davey.

Jack Hockley also raced up an age group in Junior 16 double sculls and came a very creditable second by just a couple of seconds.

In the Junior 15 girls quads, Sophie Steventon and Juliet Steynor produced their best race of the season to come third beating Sir William Borlase's. Mike Mottram also had a good run in the J15 boys single sculls as he came fourth.

Marlow Rowing Club finished 96th out of 420 crews at the Eights Head of the River Race in London. The second eight finished 252nd.

The Marlow School Rowing Association crew featuring athletes from Great Marlow School, Sir William Borlase's, Dr Challanors and the RGS finished 284th.

Marlow's top veteran crew finished 32nd at the Veterans Head of the River race the following Day. Marlow's second boat was just ten places behind in 42nd spot.
