EXCITEMENT is growing for this year's special Marlow Regatta. The rowing spectacular will signal the 150th running of a Marlow regatta since the first competition in 1855.
On Friday, Sir Steve Redgrave announced the plans for Saturday, June 18, when around 2,000 competitors will take to the water at Dorney rowing lake.
The Olympic rowing legend, who lives in Marlow Bottom, joined fellow Marlow Regatta committee members at The Boathouse at Dorney.
Tony Evans, honorary secretary, said: "We've grown since we moved to Dorney and it's a chance for us to show what's going to happen this year."
This year's regatta will feature a champagne reception while honouring the 150th birthday with an event at Marlow Rowing Club in August. The regatta moved from Marlow to Dorney in 2001 with the two-day Marlow Town Regatta and Festival (MTRF) filling the void.
This year's MTRF takes place on the weekend of June 11 &12.
