Chas Symonds believes his new intense training scheme has left him in top shape to beat Pontefract fighter, Peter Dunn at the Wembley Conference Centre this Friday.

The unbeaten welterweight fighter from Stroud Green Road, recently acquired new trainer Babatunde Ajayi, who also trains fellow hot prospects featherweight Kevin Mitchell and cruiserweight Junior Macdonald, and his tough-line approach has certainly impressed the 22-year-old.

Symonds said: "He's a tremendous trainer and he does everything with us. We go jogging at 5.15am and he leads the way and sets the pace.

"We end up training three times a day and that's what I wanted to do, to train everyday like the Americans do."

Friday night's non-title six rounder will be Symonds' first fight since securing the British Masters title in September and it will provide a great chance to further impress the boxing fraternity, as the fight is on the British and Commonwealth champion Matt Skelton versus Fabio Eduardo Moli undercard.

But Symonds is confident he can dispose of 30-year-old Dunn and remain on course for a fight with rival Ross Minton.

Symonds added: "Tony Doherty is the last person to stop him (Dunn), so to stop him would be a nice win.

"But I know I can beat Ross Minter because I can go into the ring and have three things I can do, Ross Minter only has one, and that's to come forward."
