ROWING:o A dozen Marlow crews reached finals at the National Championships in Nottingham last weekend bringing home a silver and a bronze medal.

The silver went to the womens coxless four who were only beaten to the top prize by City of Oxford.

The crew including Commonwealth gold medallists Victoria Richmond and Emily Booker alongside Louise Ainley and England international Helen Seldon, won their heat in style before putting in another sterling performance in the final.

The second medal came in the Open Junior boys quads where Marlovians Richard Hewitt and Stuart Heap they teamed up with colleagues from Windsor and Dulwich with great success.

The composite crew struggled to jell in round one but won their semi-final in style.

In the final they held third place through out the race to bring home bronze.

Elsewhere, Steph Mottram just missed out on a medal in the final of the girls junior 16 singles race.

She also made the final of the double sculls.

In the girls junior 14 quad sculls, Marlow came through to the final the hard way via the repacharge before running out of gas in the final.

The boys J15 double scullers also raced well and came through the hard way winning the repacharge, but the programme of four races in two days took its toll in the final.

In the junior 16 boys single sculls, Crispin Knill raced will to progress to his first final at this level.

The women's squad finished off the weekend by making two further finals.
