Marlow Rowing club came home with three gold, three silver and a bronze medal from last weekend's Cardiff Indoor Grand Prix event.

The athletes raced over a gruelling 2,000m distance but it was no problem for Stuart Heap who took gold in the lightweight Junior 18 event in an excellent time of six minutes and 56 seconds beating clubmate Tom Rendall, who had to settle for silver.

A second gold went to Great Marlow School pupil Jack Hockley who set a new personal best to win the Junior 14 boys event in seven minutes and six seconds.

He beat team-mate and Wye Valley school pupil Matthew Best, who had to settle for second place.

Marlow's third gold came from another Great Marlow school pupil, Lauren Humphry. She won the Junior 14 girls event in a personal best of seven minutes and 59 seconds. That time was good enough to put her in the top three in the country for the year.

In the Junior 15 boys event, Royal Grammar School twins James and David Loveday took the silver and bronze medals in a battle royal.

The twins pushed each other hard with James just piping his twin by five seconds.

And the twins were to the fore again in the Junior 16 event where they again carved up the medals.

Again it was James who took gold with his brother four seconds behind.

In the Junior 16 event Richard Hewitt took an excellent bronze medal to top off the excellent day for the Marlow athletes.

The next event in the series is in Cambridge next month.

Elsewhere back out on the water, Marlow Rowing Club's were Juniors in top form at Wycliffe Sculling Head.

The Junior 16 girls double pairing of Ruth Garrett and Steph Mottram set a new course record as they won their event.

Jack Hockley also got in on the act setting a new course record of 10 minutes and 34 seconds as he won the junior 14 boys single sculls with more than a minute to spare from his nearest challenger.

Matt Best also took gold in the Junior 15 single sculls staying under the ten minute mark by one second. His clubmate Chris Johnson took silver five seconds back.
