Orion youngsters continue with excellent progress at county champs
ATHLETICS
ORION Harriers youngsters got the chance to show their early-season form against the top athletes in the county at the Essex County Track and Field Championships.
And they did not disappoint, continuing their phenomenal progress with a number of outstanding performances.
Leading the way were gold medal winners Corinne Humphries, in the U17 girls' 100 metres, and India Wellings in the U13 girls' pole vault).
The pair were well supported by medallists Tommy Black (silver in the U15 boys' high jump), Oliver Heeks (silver in the U20 boys' 800m) and Huy Vu (bronze in the U17 boys' 100m hurdles).
A number of other Orion youngsters performed with distinction, achieving personal bests and reaching finals.
They were: Sienna Blake (U13 girls' 150m), Nikkita Sartori-Sigrist (U13 girls' 75m hurdles and pentathlon), Georgie Tuckfield (U13 girls' 800m and 1200m), Lauren MacGregor (U15 girls' 1500m and 800m), Jamel Walker (U15 boys' 100m), Sydney Taylor (U13 girls' 1,500m), Jay Andrews (U15 girls' 1500m), Armanni Antoine-Chagar (U15 girls' 1500m) and Frankie Conway (U17 boys' 1500m).
There were also a excellent performances over the two days from Alex Gordon (U15 boys' 1500m), Daniel Penfold (U17 boys' 800m), Jessica Kipps (U17 girls' 200m), Cheyenne Antoine-Chagar (U13 boys' 1500m), Ellis Ball (U17 boys' 800m), Ben Hall (U20 boys' 1500m) and Jay Andrews (U15 girls' 800m).
Orion's success is attributable to both the commitment of the youngsters and the excellent coaching set-up that is now well established at the club.
