Radlett crash to seven-wicket defeat

It was not quite the start Radlett were hoping for in Home Counties Premier League Division One.

The Cobden Hill-based outfit went into the new campaign full of hope, only to crash to a seven-wicket defeat at home to High Wycombe.

They now turn their attention to Saturday's trip to Slough, who also lost their opening match.

Radlett also begin their Cockspur Cup campaign with a home game against Middlesex County League Stanmore on Sunday.

Shane Burger's troops were bowled out for just 92 in the 28th over against High Wycombe, their visitors reaching their target in 21 overs with the loss of just three wickets.

However, it was not all doom and gloom over the weekend.

Radlett did secure their place in the second round of the Evening Standard Trophy following a one-wicket win over Shenfield on Sunday.

Shenfield were bowled out for 221 in 50 overs. Radlett reached their target in 41 overs, but with just one wicket to spare.

Meanwhile, Radlett's 2nds saw off Rickmansworth in Saracens Herts League Division Two.

Their hosts were bowled out for just 106, Radlett II reaching their target with five wickets to spare.

* Shenley Village went down by just nine runs against St Albans in Division Three.

Their opponents were bowled out for 204 in 53 overs. In reply, Shenley were dismissed for 195 in the 41st over.

The club's 2nds lost by 15 runs against County Hall.
