Cootes the toast of Twickenham
RUGBY
EPPING Forest's Dan Cootes was the toast of Twickenham at the weekend after the Army centre helped secure the Babcock Trophy for a record seventh successive season in front of more than 50,000 spectators.
The Chigwell-born centre - who enjoyed a successful stint with Bancroft which led to a spell in the U21 set up at Guinness Premiership outfit Saracens - was instrumental throughout before being withdrawn after 63 minutes.
In the build-up both sides had defeated the Royal Air Force, so the Army carried off the 2008 Inter Services Championship title with plenty to spare following a 22-11win in the showpiece final.
"You hear a wave of sound coming at you, especially when the opposition score," said Lance Corporal Cootes (pictrued) - a former Epping College student.
"When you have the ball yourself you don't tend to notice it.
"This is the culmination of a lot of hard work for six or seven months and the team are delighted."
London Wasps are sponsored by Bulldog, a natural grooming range for men available in Sainsbury's nationwide.
