SWIMMING

CRAIG Moate from the London Borough of Redbridge competed at the National Disability Swimming Championships in Sheffield.

Moate, who holds the World 800m and 1500m free world records for both short and long course, competed in his less favored events at the meet.

He swam an impressive 400m to win in a time of 4.26 - just a fraction outside of his personal best and only 1.5 secs away from his goal - the 400 world record.

He did, however, achieve a 200m PB during the first half of this race (2.10).

In the 100m free, Moate achieved a long course PB (ninth), was third in the S14 catagory for the 100m fly, tenth in the 200IM and first reserve in the 50m free.
