Chris and Georgia set new best times at London Youth Championships
SWIMMING
LONDON Borough of Redbridge swimmers Chris Inch and Georgia Hunton Clarke set regional records at the London Youth Swimming Championships held at Gurnell Leisure Centre.
Hunton Clarke set the new record in the 50m back, and also set a seasons best in the 100m fly. She also finished in the 100m back and in the 200m back.
Inch clocked a new time in the 200m fly. He also came second in the 400m individual medley, third in the 100m fly, third in the 400m free, and sixth in the 200IM.
Club member Phoebe Hayes was also in impressive form, setting a two-second personal best (PB) in the 400m free and a PB in the 200m event.
Hayes finished third in the 400m and fifth in the 200m frees - both times being inside the national long course qualifying standard. She also set season best times in the 100m and 200m back.
Reece Barclay swam a superb 100m free to set a national qualifying time and finished fourth in the final. This adds to his 50m success at Milton Keynes where he achieved another national qualifying time. Barclay also competed in the 400m free where he finished second.
Ben Hollis had a great weekend, finishing second in the 100m fly and setting a three-second PB in the 200m event for third place. He also achieved a PB in the 200m free and equaled his PBs in the 50m and 100m events.
Laura Francis swam really well, achieving season bests in the 50m free and 100m free.
Chris Worby swam an impressive PB in the 100m breast to finish third, and also finished third in the 50m and 200m events. He was just outside of his best in the 50m and 100m fly events.
Lucy Warner, just 13, swam the 50m, 100m, 200m breast and 400IM in the girls 14/15 year age group. Her 100m time was just outside of her best.
