RUISLIP Manor President John Barnett has admitted the club's future in the Spartan Premiership is all but over.

Barnett has written a letter to the Spartan League announcing that the club are unable to complete their fixtures this season starting from the match on Saturday at Welwyn Garden City.

The president was initially willing to pay £4,000 to help run the team for the rest of the season. But he backtracked on his decision after claiming he was not properly supported by a committee.

Barnett said: "As far as I'm concerned the club will have to go back to square one. The club will not be able to fulfil its fixtures unless someone comes forward with a lot of money.

"I have done the correct thing because where is the money coming from?

"I've been involved with Ruislip Manor for 25 years so it's disappointing to see this happen. But I suppose it will have to go backwards to go forwards."

Regarding the decision not to financially support the club, he added: "The people that were going to run the club decided against certain things. They wanted guarantees and I wasn't prepared to offer them."

There remains the possibility that Manor could still be saved if a group or individual comes forward offering to finance their future.

The league status of Ruislip is up in the air and if they are demoted from the Spartan Premier they could reform in the Middlesex County League.
