WANDERERS have given clubs the green light to sign hot-shot Jermaine Easter and said he can go if the price is right.

Swindon and MK Dons both enquired about the Welsh international last week and have been told to back up their interest with firm bids.

Blues managing director Steve Hayes told Midweek yesterday: "They asked us if we'd be prepared to sell Jermaine to which we replied, put in an official bid."

The former Stockport County hitman has just one year left on his contract and Wanderers will cash in if the price is right.

Hayes said: "He's got a year left on his contract and if someone comes in with an offer that we cannot refuse then we would be silly not to consider it."

Wycombe saw MK Dons forward Izale McLeod move to Charlton in a £1.1 million switch last week and believe Easter is on a smiliar footing after he tied with McLeod in last season's League Two Golden Boot award on 24 goals.

The interest from Swindon and MK Dons could now spark a stampede of counter bids from other clubs ahead of the transfer window closing on August 31.

Easter's hometown club Cardiff City, who are one division off the Premiership, and fellow Championship sides Bristol City and QPR are known admirers with League One pair Swansea and Millwall also interested.

Easter, who was told of Swindon and MK Dons' interest, on Friday said: "I've never looked for a move but it's flattering to be linked with anyone. I have never shied away from the fact that I want to play higher but I'm not going to move for the sake of moving.

"It's got to be something that really takes my fancy."

Hayes believes it won't be League One Swindon, or Blues' League Two rivals MK Dons, that win the race.

He said: "I'm not sure they really match his ambition. MK Dons might pay more money, but they are in the same division as us and Swindon have only just got promoted to the league above."

But Wanderers are gearing themselves up for life without their shooting star.

Hayes confirmed yesterday that Wycombe are actively hunting a replacement in case he leaves before the August 31 transfer window closes.
