Carshalton judo expert Kerry Ford heads to Poland later this month in fine form after claiming a silver medal in the Dutch Cup tournament in Rotterdam last week.
The 16-year-old Carsharlton High School student lost out to Holland's number one in the final of the 63kg division and is looking to repeat the feat or go one beter at the Cadets A tournament in Szczyrk on May 26.
"It has been an amazing year for me so far and things are just coming one after another," said the youngster, who is in the process of sitting her GCSE exams.
"It is a struggle to sit down and revise at the moment when there is so much other stuff going on, but the next trip is in half-term, so it won't affect much.
"I am delighted to be going out there because it is another big selection.
"A gold is only one step away. but, as long as I get a medal, I'll be happy."
