London are pride of the river

| Historic win: London Rowing Club on their way to victory over Thames. Mike Owen |
London Rowing Club finished 10 lengths clear of Thames Rowing Club to win the 50th Boustead Cup - contested annually between Putney's two leading boat clubs.
London RC, whose crew included multiple Henley winners and former Great Britain U23 internationals, clocked 17 minutes 26 seconds in relatively slow stream conditions.
They passed the University Stone at Putney 10 lengths and 30 seconds clear of the rivals.
Thames' cause was not helped by three late changes to their crew caused by illness, but they won the toss and chose the Middlesex station, hoping to profit from the first Chiswick bend.
However, London hit a strong rhythm early on to gain clear water by Barnes Bridge.
London made it a clean sweep by also winning the second and third eights' races.
With those teams finishing just 23 and 25 seconds slower than their team in the Boustead race itself, it suggests that London will be a club to watch at next month's Head of the River Race.
The winning margins in those races were 13 and 56 seconds respectively.
Nicholas Boustead, grandson of Guy, who donated the trophy in 1947, made the presentation to the winning crew after the race.
London lead Thames
27-23 in the 50-year history of the main race.
