Watford forward Britt Assombalonga up for League Two Player of the Month Award

Watford striker Britt Assombalonga has been nominated for the League Two Player of the Month Award.

Assombalonga scored five goals as his loan club Southend United secured five wins, a draw and a defeat in all competitions during the month of September.

The 19-year-old is up against Port Vale’s Tom Pope and Rochdale’s Andrew Tutte and the winner will be announced on Sky Sports News at 10am on Friday.

Assombalonga's boss at Southend Paul Sturrock is also up for the manager's award.

He may not be ready for our 1st team yet but he's definitely got something about him and should be tied down on a longer term deal like TH and SM.

Yeah we should tie him down to a five year deal as he's only 19 and in a couple of years time once he's had the experience required in league 2 or league 1 he will be a very good player!

Mark my words he's gna be class, sign him up quick sharp, maybe even give him a run out in January if he keeps banging them in for Southend.

The fat jock is only buying faded ex-prem stars of 32+ years at the moment so won't be interested in Britt for another 13 years or so.

Get him back to the club now and send out Geijo on loan. Geijo's first touch on Saturday was that of an elephants! He lost posession everytime the ball came to him. Get him out on loan so that he can get some match practice. Having said that he will now score against Posh a week Saturday :-)
