A STUNNING strike from Chris Solly sealed back-to-back away wins for Charlton as they defeated promotion contenders Blackpool.
Leon Cort headed the Addicks into the lead on 49 minutes before a sweet Solly strike 17 minutes from time put the gloss on the victory for the hard working Addicks.
In truth, the three points were fully warranted, as the visitors had to spend long periods without the ball but took their chances when they arrived.
It took a good Michael Morrison block to stop Ben Hamer being tested when Matt Phillips fired at goal from the edge of the box on 19 minutes.
But it was the visitors who had the first clear cut chance of the match when Cort flicked Salim Kerkar’s corner onto the bar with 24 minutes gone.
Blackpool responded five minutes later when an off balance Gary Taylor-Fletcher elected to shoot from 40 yards, but thankfully his effort dropped onto the roof off the net with Hamer stranded.
Hamer then saved well from Matt Phillips on 32 minutes after he had cut in from the left and arrowed a left footed drive, low towards Hamer’s left hand corner.
On 36 minutes Taylor-Fletcher should've opened the scoring, he dropped the shoulder and Cort and with only Hamer to beat from inside the box he smashed over.
Right on half-time the Addicks carved out their best chance of the game when Ricardo Fuller cut inside of Neal Eardley on the left of the Blackpool box before seeing his low shot turned behind by Matt Gilks.
Charlton took the lead four minutes after the break through Cort, who climbed unchallenged to head past Gilks.
Despite the introduction of Tom Ince and Kevin Phillips, the Addicks extended their on 73 minutes as Solly rifled in the second.
He was on hand to smash home with the outside of his right foot after Stephens’ shot from the edge of the box had been blocked by Ian Evatt.
The Addicks held firm to secure their third win of the season and record their first clean sheet since their goalless draw with Hull in August.
