DARIUS Henderson grabbed a 90th minute winner as Millwall made a welcome return to winning ways with victory over Bolton at The Den.

Henderson had given the hosts a 17th minute lead but Bolton were back on terms five minutes after the break through Chris Eagles.

Eagles then missed a penalty and was made to regret it when Henderson struck again at the death to ensure Millwall picked up their first three points since beating Middlesbrough 3-1 on September 1.

This Is Local London: Bogdan comes out to deny debutant Mark Beevers

The Lions handed a debut to Mark Beevers following his arrival on a 28-day loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

Shane Lowry was the man to make way after being ruled out through suspension.

The only other change from Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Bristol City came on the bench where Therry Racon was named instead of Jake Goodman.

Keith Andrews had a sixth minute effort blocked by Alan Dunne before firing over David Forde’s bar at the second attempt.

Millwall immediately went on the attack and only a crucial tackle by Matt Mills prevented Chris Wood from converting James Henry’s low cross.

The Lions did have the ball in the back of the net from the resulting corner but Danny Shittu’s effort was ruled out for a foul on Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan.

Bogdan then had to be alert to deal with a Henderson as the Lions continued to ask plenty of early questions.

But the Bolton stopper was punished by Millwall’s prolific striker in the 17th minute when Henderson’s shot from just outside of the area took a deflection on its way into the back of the net with Bogdan wrong footed.

Zat Knight’s volley was deflected behind for a corner as the Trotters tried to make an instant response and then Kevin Davies had a 24th minute penalty claim ignored after the veteran’s shot was charged down by Jack Smith.

Millwall should have doubled their advantage in the 37th minute when Henderson released Scott Malone into the area but his shot sailed harmlessly wide.

Andrews was tripped on the edge of the area by Shittu three minutes before the break but Tyrone Mears blasted his effort well over Forde’s bar.

Chris Wood somehow headed wide when unmarked at the other end and then Eagles was denied by a fine one-handed stop from Forde.

There was still time for David Ngog to head over from Eagles’ free-kick in stoppage time but an equaliser would have flattered the visitors at the break and it was Millwall who went derservedly with their noses in front.

Only a super save by Bogdan kept out Wood’s 48th minute header after the Lions striker had risen high to meet Henry’s excellent cross.

But Bolton were handed a way back into the game two minutes later after being awarded a free-kick outside of the area for a foul on Mark Davies by Liam Trotter.

Eagles stepped up to smash the low free-kick under the wall and past Forde to make it all square.

Trotter’s appeals for a spot kick failed to impress referee Gavin ward as the midfielder went to ground when a long ball was whipped into the box Eagles should have scored his and Bolton’s second but instead of finding the target instead placed a shot well wide at the back post after being picked out by Kevin Davies’ right wing cross.

But Eagles and Bolton were given the chance to make it 2-1 in the 61st minute after he was tripped in the area by Alan Dunne, although he blasted the penalty wildly over the bar.

Bogdan made a fantastic save to push behind Henderson’s 30 yard free-kick, which was flying into the top corner.

Malone blasted a volley well wide from 20 yards before Kenny Jackett made a double change on 73 minutes by throwing on Andy Keogh and Chris Taylor for Wood and Henry.

Keogh was clattered into by Eagles three minutes later by the touchline and the Bolton scorer was perhaps fortunate only to receive a yellow card.

Shaun Batt was introduced for Malone as Millwall made their final substitution.

New boy Beevers headed straight at Bogdan from Dunne’s free-kick but there was still time for a dramatic winner and it was that man Henderson who grabbed it in the 90th minute.

The striker exchanged passes with Keogh before again beating Bogdan from just outside of the area to send The Den into party mode.
