Fans dig deep to help settle more than half Blues' £125k legal bill Fans dig deep to help settle more than half Blues' £125k legal bill

GENEROUS Wycombe Wanderers fans have dug deep to cover more than half of an outstanding £125,000 legal bill in just over three days.

The Wycombe Wanderers Trust asked supporters and businesses on Tuesday to help them pay the legal bill accrued during the trust’s protracted takeover of the League Two club from Steve Hayes.

The appeal has proven to be successful, with fans and corporate firms reaching into their pockets to stump up more than half the legal fee already. The trust called the response “remarkable”.

In a statement, the trust said: “This is a remarkable response from our fan base and demonstrates the level of commitment that exists within the Wycombe district and beyond.

“When the Trust acquired control of our football club in late June 2012, it realised that there were bound to be some difficult times ahead and difficult decisions to be taken.

“But it also realised that the loyalty and dedication of our supporters was such that, providing we were open and honest about progress and issues as they arose, then we were assured of support.”

The trust added that the appeal for donations is still very much ongoing. Email trevor@wycombewandererstrust.com to make a pledge.

Why throw good money after bad. They will be asking to help pay for a new coach next.

Mmmmhhh, half of the monies raised in a matter of days, a little suspect. A common tactic to get a "head of steam" going in a money-raising campaign is to make an announcement such as this.

Any donor, business or otherwise, contributing a large amount would certainly want assurances regarding the ongoing future of the club, and that would take longer than three days to meet and discuss!

Maybe the legal firm, I hope they have read this article, should call Trust's bluff and ask for half the money now ;-)

Actually, it's rather gratifying to see that there are more people, in this town, who care about their team, than you pair of miseries.

I think those doubting the figures should apologise. I have personally contributed £62500 towards this bill.

If the fans have paid half the £125k bill then good for them, at least we know they have financial means.

With the fans having so much spare money floating around maybe they should be asked to repay some of the public money (wasn't it £750k?) that was spent on the preliminary investigations into the failed Booker stadium project?

so let's ask the fans that campaigned against the move and Mr.Hayes ownership to pay for our elected officials inept handling of the whole planning process whilst trying to save the club, brilliant. perhaps we could get the native americans to compensate the US government for the costs incurred putting them onto reservations.

You are making the assumption that the fans wanted the stadium Ivor.
I was under the impression that this was not the case at all.
