Watford boss Gianfranco Zola praises the impact of recently-released Troy Deeney

Gianfranco Zola admitted he was “very frustrated” to give away the lead twice against Bristol City this afternoon but did state there were a lot of positives; one of which was the performance of Troy Deeney.
The Hornets dominated the first half and took the lead twice in the second through a James Wilson own goal and Matej Vydra’s fourth goal of the season.
But Bristol City twice equalised as Marvin Elliott made it 1-1 and Steven Davies levelled with seven minutes remaining.
Zola said: “If I only focussed on that [losing a lead twice] then yes it is very frustrating. But there were also a lot of good, positive things I can take from this game; we created a lot and scored two goals.
“Towards the end it was a little bit shaky and it was not very healthy for the manager’s heart but a lot of that was down to the fact that many of the players are coming back from injuries and there are players who are not playing well. So we tired a little bit.
“It is early days and we will improve that, and then we will be a very good team.”
Deeney received a warm reception from the home crowd today and made an immediate impact when he came on.
Watford’s top scorer from last season almost scored with one of his first touches, played a big part in the opener and hit the post with a header.
Zola said: “We are trying to play good football. I thought the first half was good but too slow. In the second half we increased the tempo and when Troy came on he made a big impact. The situation got better and better.
“It is encouraging and I will take a lot of positives from the game.”
On Deeney, he added: “I am glad Deeney is back. He is an important player and he is just the right player for this team.
“Today he showed very good attributes and he will get better and better. We are very happy to have him and we will improve a lot.”

Anyways, gutted feels like a loss however deeney did make an immediate impact, when fit him & Vydra/Geijo (whoever he is) will be neat front 2!
Like I said... Gutted however 22-23 shots today, pretty good just not clinical yet!

Deeney has alway given 100% since he's been at watford but has never had a coach who could improve him as a player. Hopefully Zola will show him the little things that turn an average forward into a very good one.

I think the Club and Deeney ought to show a bit more humilty and sympathy for the victims of his vicious attack. The fact that Deeney was released after 11 weeks of a 10 month sentence makes a mockery of the justice system.
For the record Deeny punched a student Nathan Parton and broke his jaw. Deeney's brother then kicked him unconcious. Deeney also kicked another student Liam Baister in the head whilst he was on the floor requiring him to have 20 stitched in his lip. Both students could have been killed. A police officer suffered a serious injury trying to restrain Deeney. The judge described the attack as a gratuitous beating. The attack was unprovoked. For those who have a conscience and want to know the facts read the Birmingham Post court report and then decide if you want to cheer Deeney.

Another reason I'm glad he is back as it means big Chris won't get a game and it meant we could loan out Garner!
For those who booed grow up! Deeney will bring us so much more up front due to the way he likes to play.
He would of had more goals for us if he wasn't played out of position by previous managers!
I'm a bit miffed we didn't get the 3 points today but we are looking better, and with the likes of Geijo and the other loan players still to come into the first 16 things are looking up!

Don't confuse welcoming Deeney for a lack of sympathy for the victim of the crime, however the debate over Deeneys reinclusion in the club has been long debated on here and seemingly within the club. The decision has been made and all Deeney can now do is keep his head down and try to do his best whilst wearing the yellow shirt and in this respect he performed very well today, so good luck to him both in his career and in his rehabilitation moving forward

The major problem is that Watford have skilful, ball playing defenders who can't defend. Hopefully Fitzhall will stay fit, as he is what we need---a very good, solid championship defender. Cassetti will not last past Christmas as anything more than an occasional player. He is too slow, and finding the Championship too much of a challenge. Yes, he is great going forward, and plays some dangerous crosses, passes. But he is a liability, denfensively. Neuton is good on the eye, but makes defensive errors.
There is progress, tho'!

Anyone who boos a Watford player is not a fan, I never have at a game, for they are Hornets and therefore part of the hive.

First game this season due illness. Very impressed by gz approach. Early days but it looks like things coming together. I think whatever people's take on Deeny should be put to bed. The club have decided to keep him, he will score goals for us, he's better than some give credit for and he's done his porridge.
If I felt that strongly about his tenure I would certainly not attend games. I don't so I'll go, will applaud him and so will most of the nay Sayers when he does too!
You could of course write a poem on the plight of the grooming of under age girls for heinous sex gangs up North, now that's something I could get really angry about, nothing to do with football I agree, but lots to do with this country and its priorities and priniciples

SA Hornet also liked Johannesberg.
I used to like watching SuperGran,
She lived in a town called Dur-ban,
When I catch a cold I get sticky booger,
Which brings us back to the rhinos of the Kruger.

Unreserved seating in the Rookery would be a great idea too, so friends can sit in groups and I wouldn't have to sit next to those moaning Minnie's I had to Saturday. What numptys they were!
