Freedman wary of Charlton's momentum

CRYSTAL Palace manager Dougie Freedman admits Charlton’s ability to produce results on a consistent basis is the biggest problem the Eagles face tomorrow.
The Addicks broke through the 100-point barrier on their way to running away with the League One title last season, winning 30 of their 46 league games in the process.
They may have only won once this season in the Championship but they’ve also only lost once, leaving Freedman to ponder how the Eagles can inflict what would be a rare defeat on the hosts.
He said: “The main threat is the momentum they’ve got right now, the momentum they received last year from getting promotion.
“They’ve carried that on to have a good start in the league this time around.
“I think they’ve got a crowd whose expectations are a little bit higher than they have been over the last four or five years.
“We’ve got to make sure we try and stop that momentum and quieten the crowd down.
“On the pitch they’ve got one or two individual players but for me they play as a team, a very strong team at home that need to be matched and that’s what we will try and do.”
Freedman will be taking on Chris Powell for the first time as manager tomorrow but revealed the duo have a lot more in common than just being former fan favourites who have taken control at their respective clubs in their first managerial roles.
The Eagles boss said: “About four or five years ago there were about 20 people chosen to go on a coaching course.
“Off the top of my head Roberto Di Mateo was there, Gus Poyet was there and Chris was there, Zola was there and Solskjaer was there.
“Chris came across as a fantastic guy who really thought about the game and really gave a good insight in terms of his experience.
“That group of coaches have went on to be managers and I think Chris Powell is right at the front of them, he has had promotion already in his career and has turned that club’s fortunes around so I’ve got a lot of time for Chris as a manager but more importantly as a person.
“I’ve always felt he is a very warm guy and a very open guy.
“There is no doubt after the match we will share a conversation and pick each other’s brains.”
