Dean Morgan joins Wanderers to replace Beavon
1:09pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in Latest Sport By Alan Feldberg
WANDERERS have signed Dean Morgan as a replacement for Stuart Beavon.
The attacker arrived at Adams Park on Thursday on a short-term deal until January, and will be available for Blues’ trip to Chesterfield tomorrow.
Manager Gary Waddock said: “He can play up front or wide, he covers both roles.
“We were looking to bring someone in who can score and create goals, which we’ve lacked in recent week. And with Bevs [Beavon] going we needed another option.”
Morgan, who joins as a free agent, has been around the ground in a hectic career.
Wanderers will be the 28-year-old’s 12th club after scoring five goals in 31 games for Chesterfield and Oxford last season – including both the Spireites goals in a 3-2 loss against Blues in December.
Meanwhile, Waddock says the news signals the intention of joint chairman Don Woodward to use at least some of the money from the sale of Beavon to replenish the squad.
Waddock said: “Don said that when Beavon was sold we’d be able to bring players in and he’s been as good as his word.
“It’s not just Morgan, but Jo Kuffour too.”
