Ryan Allsop and Ryan Brunt met UFC star John Maguire this week
Leyton Orient players Ryan Allsop and Ryan Brunt welcomed Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star John Maguire to the O’s training ground this week.
The pair were put through their paces and given an insight into the life of a UFC competitor ahead of his fight on September 29 in Nottingham.
Maguire said: “It was great to come down to Leyton Orient to meet the players, and even train with a few of them.
“Mixed martial artists and footballers both need high levels of fitness and conditioning and it’s always interesting to see how other sports train. Hopefully we both learnt something from each other.
“It would be great to see some of them at my fight in Nottingham.”
Goalkeeper Allsop added: “It was great to meet John and be shown some of the moves he uses in UFC.
“You can always learn things from other sports and how they go about their training, so it was interesting to hear how he prepares for his fights.
“I know UFC is always a good spectacle, and as we’ve experienced a true physical test, and I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for how he gets on in Nottingham at the end of the month.”
