Wanderers boss demands a response tomorrow
GARY Waddock has demanded a reaction from his players when they take on Cheltenham at Adams Park tomorrow.
Last weekend the manager accused his players of a lack of desire as they slipped to defeat at Southend.
But he says the attitude at training this week has been first class and now he wants to see that on the pitch too.
Waddock said: “If we could transfer our performances on the training ground to a match day we’d be very, very pleased.
“They’ve performed very well this week, but they’re only judged on a match-day. That’s when it counts and we have to do that this Saturday, in front of our home crowd.
“There needs to be a reaction from last weekend. We have to show what we’re about and I’m hoping that we’ll get that.”
Wanderers, with just one win so far, host a Cheltenham team that were close to replacing Blues in League One.
Waddock said: “We’ve started slowly in games and that’s something we need to look at. We need to be starting games better and then competing until the 95th minute because it will be a tough game.”
Meanwhile, the manager has revealed that many of those who under-performed so badly last weekend will get a chance to put it right tomorrow.
He said: “Some of them will get another opportunity. We haven’t got the biggest squad in the world so we can’t change everyone.”
