Watford boss Gianfranco Zola talks to the From The Rookery End podcast in latest edition

The latest ‘From The Rookery End’ podcast is now available to download and includes an interview with new Watford head coach Gianfranco Zola.

This month’s edition includes an exclusive interview with Zola, a discussion about the Pozzo family's takeover and a song for Watford’s long-standing defender Lloyd Doyley .

In a quite unique recording you will have the opportunity to find out what really makes Zola tick, what drives him to succeed at Watford, his football philosophy and most importantly who he would pick in a five-a-side team of players that he has played with and against.

Co-presenter Mike Parkin said: "To meet Gianfranco Zola was a genuinely exciting experience. He speaks with such passion and knowledge about football, and is clearly serious about being successful at Watford.

"We asked him to pick a five-a-side team from the best players he’s played with and against and when he started reeling off the names, the penny really dropped as to what this man has seen and done in the game.

"We spoke to Gianfranco before the Palace game, and it was really interesting to hear his views on the squad that he inherited.

"We also probed him on his footballing philosophy and we’re sure Watford supporters will like what he had to say.

"With his career as Watford boss in its infancy we did spend time talking about his career both as a player and a manger elsewhere – it was absolutely fascinating.

"He was welcoming, friendly and clearly has a great sense of humour. If the football Watford serve up under his stewardship is as entertaining as the man himself, we should be in for a treat this year."

The podcast, which is now in its third season, is written and presented by lifelong fans Jon Moonie, Jason Bailey and Mike Parkin.

Parkin went onto say: "It has been a hectic summer to be a Watford fan, and now the season has started there continues to be plenty to discuss.

"It’s a hugely interesting time to be a supporter and there are a wide range of views as to the direction the club is travelling.

"We hope the podcast gives a balanced approach to discussing the things that are important to us as fans, and hope that our fellow supporters enjoy what we had to say – whether they agree with it or not. After a summer of change however, one thing remains the same – our singing sounds awful."
