Wood injury a turning point
AN INJURY to Sam Wood was a turning point in Wanderers' defeat to Gillingham, believes manager Gary Waddock.
The former Brentford winger was proving a handful for the Kent club's defence until he was forced off just before the break.
And Waddock was left to bemoan his luck with injuries as Matt Bloomfield also came off with a groin problem - just over a week after first choice right-back Marvin McCoy was ruled out for three months.
He said: "We've got a small squad and we've picked up some injuries. It didn't help our cause."
Waddock said Wood's injury, which will be assessed today, "doesn't look too promising" and said it played a significant part in last night's 1-0 defeat.
He said: "It was definitely a turning point because we had to shuffle the group.
"Woody has made an impact since he's been here at the club and he was getting himself into the game and causing them problems."
