THE Wycombe Wanderers Trust haven’t revealed if Gary Waddock’s budget will be more or less than it was last season.

However, they do insist that money doesn’t buy success.

New joint chairman Don Woodward, who will take charge of the day-to-day running of the club, said: “It wouldn’t be right to discuss the budget, apart from to say the club is now working in a completely different era.

“We’ll work to a break-even budget overall, but I think an adequate budget for the playing squad.”

Waddock made five signings just hours after the transfer embargo was lifted and has also signed up four players who were part of the youth set up.

Woodward said: “It’s not going to be easy for Gary, but we have faith in his ability to deliver a good squad with what is obviously a very differnet squad going forward “Ambition doesn’t have to relate to money. If you’ve got a good manager working with a good squad, it’s about what they do on the pitch that generates interest.

“Income streams come from that.

“You can throw a lot of money at a lot people. It doesn’t always work. It’s not just about money.”

Waddock said: “It has been quite clear from day one what I’ve got and what I can do.”
