Wanderers chairman could step down after a quarter of a century

IVOR Beeks' long reign as Wycombe Wanderers chairman might end as a result of the Supporters Trust takeover.

Beeks has been Blues chairman for nearly 25 years and just a fortnight ago was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for his services to football in the district.

However, one result of Steve Hayes' decision to sell the club to the Trust, announced yesterday, could see Beeks replaced as chairman by Trust chairman Trevor Stroud.

That decision is one of the finer details of the takeover still being finalised.

To have any credibility, Trevor Stroud must be appointed chairman and Ivor Beeks should have no role whatsoever on the Trust.

If a divided fanbase is to reunite and pull together under the new regime, it's essential that Beeks does the honorable thing and resigns as Chairman.

As a lifelong fan of WWFC who has had many dealings with Ivor, I believe despite his flawed judgement of Steve Hayes, Ivor is passionate about WWFC he should be kept on the board.
