Watford announce the happy egg company as new official club sponsor

The happy egg company will be Watford's official club sponsor The happy egg company will be Watford's official club sponsor

The Hornets have announced the happy egg company as the official club sponsor for the upcoming 2012/13 campaign.

Watford’s new Puma-produced shirts will carry the logo of the Hertfordshire-based company after a one-year agreement was confirmed with the UK’s largest free-range egg brand.

Replica kits for the season will also feature a unique QR code on the sponsor’s logo which once scanned will link straight to www.thehappyegg.co.uk – an aspect believed to be a first for a sponsor on UK football shirt.

The partnership is already well established as the happy egg company have sponsored various awards at the End of Season Dinner in recent years as well matchday support with sponsorship packages.

Raj Athwal, Watford FC’s Commercial Director, said: “This is a real partnership which sets Watford FC at the forefront of shirt sponsorship as demonstrated by the QR code concept.

“The good people from the happy egg company are already familiar faces to many at Vicarage Road and they’ve long been supporters of this club. They’re a local business looking to support their local club.

Should add some interest to the games against Blackburn. Which come first, the Chicken or the Egg?

Local Company owners who are standing by the club so fair play to them, and thank you, well get used to the logo quite quickly - I wonder what the sponsorship the Pozzo's might bring into play next year.

So will the new kit be yellow shirt front with white shoulders sides and back. White sorts and socks. And if we need a new nickname I vote for "the cluckers"

They must be yoking! That logo will take some beating! Surely they can poach one from somewhere else. Still, the deal looks good and they are going to have to shell out a lot of money if they are going to complete the SW corner / East Stand to maintain steady organic growth. A lot of other things happening though at the moment so we mustn't count our chickens.

Jeez, are we in for some stick with that on our shirts! Scummer fans will love it. Still, sponsership is sponsership, I suppose.

While football fans who wear replica shirts aren't noted for their sartorial elegance, surely no one above the age of ten would be prepared to wear a Happy Egg shirt? This is another example of Baz showing his contempt for the fans

A recent investigation in to the Happy Egg Company found that birds kept at its farms suffer "disease, incarceration, short lives and electric shocks" - another reason not to buy a shirt with their ghastly logo

This deal will have had little to do with him apart from him agreeing to it. It'll have been the commercial director, who appears to be doing a great job of generating non match day income, who worked this out.

Of course why let the facts get in the way of an anti LB post hey
