Pozzo family suggest former Chelsea forward Gianfranco Zola could join Watford

The new potential owners of Watford have indicated former Chelsea forward Gianfranco Zola could be joining the Hornets but said "it's too early to talk about it".
Sources told the Watford Observer the Pozzo family have considered Zola for the manager's position when discussing the Hornets in the past but it is unclear whether they are still considering appointing the old West Ham United boss.
The Pozzo family, who own Italian club Udinese and La Liga side Granada, have been interested in Watford for several months and it was confirmed last night that the Hornets' board of directors had agreed 'in principle' to sell the club.
Giampaolo Pozzo owns the two clubs but we understand it will be his son Gino who will be in charge of running Watford.
"There are contacts with Watford, so we'll see," Gino Pozzo told gazzetta.it.
"Gianfranco Zola enters in the project, but it's premature to talk about it."
Watford manager Sean Dyche enjoyed a successful debut season after guiding the Hornets to their highest league position in four years, with one of the Championship's lowest budgets.
If Dyche was to be replaced, it would be an unpopular decision among a lot of the Watford supporters.

Possibly wanted someone with knowledge of the English game to give them some advice before spending millions.
Who knows? A good man, Zola - and what a guy to have around a young squad like ours, in some capacity. Obviously don't want Dyche to go though.

Zola: "Well, all i can remember about them Mr Pozzo was that i spent 90mins in Steve Palmer's pocket back in '99!"

I'm really sorry for those tools on here who cannot see a good thing and spend their time looking for a spelling mistake to try and impose their educational superiority.
I'm also sorry for those of you who hanker for the so called roller coaster ride that is supposedly a given for Wayford fans.
Me Sir? no Sir, change our kits to stripes, bring in Zola, have some money, a new stand etc etc
I don't give a flying fig, anything that puts my club on the map is good by me

But seriously anything has to be better than the current situation with Bas. We are in a better place than when he took over but if nothing happens could be in a worse place so bring on the Pozzo's and we can all get on the next roller coaster ride and see if we like it. Billionaire or bankrupt - I think I know which one I would choose. Personally I hope Dyche is here for next season. So far we have been in the Premier League twice after 7 & 14 years - guess what it is 21 years next year - roll on lucky 7!

We have a possible new owner who seems to have a decent amount of success with football clubs and much as I like Dyche if they want somebody else in then crack on. I just want my team to do well. Part of the reason he was originally interested was our academy so I imagine that's safe. Bring it on

These people have a plan that allows provincial teams without big gates to compete succesfully with the big boys.Expect to see a lot of young players with strange sounding names. When they become stars we will have to sell them...but we are used to that already. It could be a great fit and so much better than trying to work out what is going on in silly old Bas's head.
As for Zola, these people are not fools and are not going to risk their investment on sentiment. Maybe there will be a role for him but if a good Championship season is the first step in this Pozzo project dumping SD does not seem a good idea.

With all the financial restraint the club has shown, assuming this transfer of ownership happens, how are we to afford anyone like Gianfranco Zola. If this takeover is like all the others it will be the club buying itself but the rewards going somewhere else. We will still be in bad position.

Worth reading Wikipedia, what Pozzo is doing with FC Granada is no diffrent to what Willie Mckay was doing at Doncaster, using another club to showcase loan signings that were then sold for his own personal profit. What happened to Doncaster? Hope I am wrong but dont see this as a good thing for the club, especially if we lose SD.
