DARTFORD defeated a CAFC XI 3-1 to reach the final of the Kent Senior Cup this evening.

The current holders were deserved winners over a Charlton side who fielded a mixture of their current U18 academy side and a few first-team squad members.

Andy Hughes, Bradley Pritchard, Cedric Evina, Mikel Alonso and Jason Euell were given much-needed run-outs, but they'll have to wait for another go at the competition next season.

However, it was a much-changed Addicks side who defeated Margate in the previous stage of the competition - missing the likes of Scott Wagstaff, Leon Clarke, Dale Stephens and Paul Hayes among others.

U18 striker Joe Pigott had the first chance of the match after five minutes when he collected a pass inside the box from Alonso, but the youngster saw his effort strike the side netting.

And just a minute later, strike partner Adebayo Azeez nearly opened the scoring when he latched on to a long pass, before lifting the ball over home custodian Deren Ibrahim and inches over the crossbar.

Dartford's Lee Burns had their first chance of the match shortly after when he blazed over from the edge of the box, but moments later, Lee Noble was inches from opening the scoring direct from a free-kick.

Standing 20-yards out, the midfielder curled the ball over the Addicks wall, but Nick Pope pulled off a good save to stop the ball heading for the top corner.

Just after the half-hour mark, the home side did take lead thanks to Jack Pallen's deadly strike inside the box following a left-wing cross.

But, moments later, the Addicks were level. Pritchard exchanged passes with Evina on the left side of the box, and the latter delivered a low ball across the six-yard box for Azeez to slide in for the equaliser.

Moments into the second period, the Darts regained their lead through Noble. The midfielder picked the ball up 30-yards out, steadied himself, and found the bottom left corner with a powerful strike.

The ball seemed to bounce just in front of Pope on its way in, but it was a sweet strike to give Tony Burman's side a 2-1 lead.

Just after the hour-mark, goalkeeper Ibrahim suffered a shoulder injury after a challenge with Azeez, and was stretchered off, with Louis Wells coming on to replace him.

Charlton substitute Tobi Sho-Silva produced a good piece of skill down the right midway through the second-half, and squared the ball across the 18-yard area, but Alonso blazed over from the loose ball.

Addicks youngster Jamal Willer replaced Alonso shortly after, but Dartford grabbed their third of the evening through substitute Elliot Bradbrook, who poked home from close range following a low cross.

There could have been a fourth last minute of normal time when Tony Garrod burst clear, but decided to square the ball to Ryan Hayes, who took a touch, but his shot was blocked by Evina at the death.

But their three goals were enough to secure the tie and they go on to face Hythe Town in the final of the competition.
