CIA sneak through cup clash

CIA Basketball player-coach Tony Brown hailed his squad as the best in years after watching them sneak through to the third round of the Founders Cup on Sunday.
Brown top scored with 18 points as his depleted side beat Greenwich Admirals 55-54 at the weekend, to set up a November 1 clash with Gintaras Dagenham at Westcroft Leisure Centre, Carshalton.
CIA turned round a three point deficit to pip the hosts - despite missing key stars Jayde Williams, Babs Maye, Xavier Lutaaya, Gene Brown and Darryl Lewis - to the delight of Brown.
“It wasn't pretty, but games like this come with learning a new offence and new players,” he said.
“We've got by far one of the best teams we’ve ever had and to keep our composure and win with 6-7 players missing is a good sign for the season.”
