PETANQUE
LOCAL players from Victorians Petanque Club at Theydon Bois performed superbly at the recent English Petanque Association Triples qualifier held at Bury St Edmunds.
Lying in fourth place out of 33 teams at the start of play, the Eastern Counties Regional players Dean Little, Keith Flack and Seetahul Dinesh had wins against teams from Southern, Kent and Chiltern regions.
They also defeated fellow ECR players Sofiane Lachani, Vanessa Webb and Chris Allen, who started the day one place ahead of them but dropped down to seventh after losing two games.
Little, Flack and Dinesh's best performance was a very impressive 13-4 win against number one seeds Baker, Rousseau, Bavazzano and Claydon from London, West Midlands and Chiltern regions.
This ensured they held their position of fourth going into the third round, which will be held at Oldbury-on-Severn, near Bristol.
