Good times for a change. See, the luck we’ve had against Millwall can make a good man turn bad.

On Good Friday, please, please, please can we get what we want. Lord knows it would be the first time.

Well, the first time in 19 years anyway!

Statistically, Charlton’s record against Millwall must be one of the poorest that any English football side has in a local derby.

That joke isn’t funny anymore. We’ve failed to even score against them in the past five meetings, drawing three of them 0-0 and losing the other two.

Over the years we’ve gone into these games in either fantastic form or in awful form.

We’ve faced Millwall teams striving for promotion or fighting for survival at the other end of the table.

What difference does it make? Seemingly none.

Some Charlton fans think that now is the time for that to change. But how soon is now?

Charlton are on a fantastic streak - seven wins in nine games, free scoring and playing exciting football.

Millwall on the other hand seem to be going nowhere fast, apart from barring a miracle, down to League One.

Since Guy Luzon has taken over at The Valley, this charming man has overseen a remarkable upturn in results which was unthinkable even a few games into his tenure.

The ‘new manager bounce’ took a few games to take hold for Luzon, but he hasn’t looked back since.

Of course he was assisted by various new signings and players returning from injury too - don’t for example underestimate how important it’s been to have the fit again Stephen Henderson’s hands in gloves.

Millwall have also changed their manager with Ian Holloway having started something he couldn’t finish.

Take the Millwall v Charlton quiz here and discover just how much you really know about the SE London derby.

Lions stalwart Neil Harris has taken over and they claimed what on paper at least looks a credible point at Brentford last time out.

However, having thrown away a 2-0 lead in the last few minutes, the old habit of conceding a goal causing panic on the streets of Bermondsey hasn’t been shaken off yet.

If we can get our noses in front then Millwall will know it’s over.

Our south-east London neighbours needed their new manager bounce to be immediate, but they just haven’t earned it yet.

Time is running out for Millwall. They need points - and they need them fast.

Millwall haven’t won at The Den in 12 and hold the second worst home record in the Championship.

They’ve conceded more goals at their own place than anyone in the division (34) and have the third lowest goals scored tally at home (18).

But even reading through these stats, I’m still a boy with a thorn in my side.

All logic and sense says we should have beaten Millwall again by now. With south-east London derby games, that all goes out the window.

Frankly Mr Shankly from Liverpool could have tried and failed to beat a Millwall side with Charlton it seems.

As the Lions unite in the home end on Friday, let’s make sure the restricted visiting support are the ones making all the noise!

We haven’t had a dream in a long time. On Good Friday, please, please, please let us get what we want.

Lord knows it will be the first time.

Come on you reds!
