Wanderers weren’t at their best but still managed to leave Victoria Road with a win after finding a second half winner.

Aaron Pierre was the man of the moment as he pounced on a loose ball in the box to turn home the only goal of the game just after the hour mark. The defender was also a rock at the back as he kept experienced striker Jamie Cureton quiet for the majority of the game.

Fellow defender Joe Jacobson has been Mr Consistency for Blues this season and he put in another accomplished display in east London. The full-back has scored a couple of memorable goals since joining in the summer and he came close to adding to that tally when his free-kick rattled the crossbar.

Following his man-of-the-match performance against Luton on Tuesday, Sam Saunders once again showed why his arrival was such a coup for Gareth Ainsworth. The midfielder, back at his old club, threatened the goal with a few efforts and his ball into the box ended with Pierre scoring the winner.

Dagenham born Paul Hayes relished Saturday’s victory and he was a constant thorn in his home town’s side. The forward led the line by example and created a number of chances for his teammates with some unselfish work.
