Gareth Ainsworth cast his eye over two young players from the Wycombe Wanderers Football & Education Academy after they were handed the opportunity to train with the first team last week.

After impressing at the Academy Liam Tack and George Reid were handed trials and linked up with the Blues squad for training on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

With no youth structure in place the Wanderers manager took the opportunity to have a look at the pair as he continues to monitor local talent.

Ainsworth said: “We were pleased to be able to take a look at the two lads and giving them this experience will hopefully help them continue the excellent progress that they’ve been making at the Education Academy.

“Without a youth team or development squad, we may not be able to give them a match environment to show what they can do, but they applied themselves well in training and showed themselves to be talented footballers.

“We keep a close eye on the progress of the youngsters within that system, as we do with young players at clubs at many different levels, to help us with our recruitment plans as and when we need new players.”

Tack, 18, is a midfielder and Reid, 17, is a winger. The duo have now returned to train with the Academy after their trial with the Blues.
