Hornets boss Slavisa Jokanovic thanked the Watford fans for their support against Bournemouth and hopes to reward them with three points against Blackburn Rovers next weekend.

More than 1,000 Golden Boys supporters made the Friday night trip to Bournemouth but they watched as Gabriele Angella was wrongly dismissed after just 25 seconds and then their side was beaten 2-0.

Despite the poor officiating, freezing temperatures and final score, the Hornets fans were in fine voice throughout and received a deserved applause from the Watford players are full time.

“It is normal that my players go over to the fans,” Jokanovic said after yesterday’s defeat. “I can be angry about many things but in the four months I have been here but the fans have always supported us.

“It is not an easy day for them after we lose. The only thing I can tell them is thank you for your support and sorry we weren’t strong enough to give them a good result.”

He continued: “Whether we are home or away that is always the situation (the fans support). Our supporters always back us. I am disappointed because we couldn’t offer them a victory or points.

“What we could only offer them was fighting but that is not enough. I expect we’ll do better in the next game and get some points for them.”
