Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth has his sights set on only bringing in new signings from higher divisions, as the clock ticks down to the transfer deadline.

Due to the last day of January falling on a weekend, managers have until Monday night to complete any business during the transfer window.

Ainsworth said he was looking higher up the pyramid, rather than bringing in a rough diamond from the lower leagues, to give his squad a boost.

He said: "It's difficult because we've got a good squad here and we want to improve. To improve, you want to look higher and bring players in from higher divisions.

"There's all sorts of caveats and problems in trying to do that.

"We are always looking to improve. We'll never let it get to an emergency situation where I can't field a team, but at the moment I'm happy with what I've got."

Ainsworth watched Brentford's U21 side beat Crystal Palace 3-0 on Tuesday, with youngster Keshi Anderson coming off the bench to net a hat trick. Senior players Sam Saunders and Tony Craig also played in the match.
