FC Leytonstone conceded a late goal to lose 2-1 against Poplar, exiting the London City Airport League Premier Division Cup quarter-final.
The Lemons restricted their hosts to half-chances and long-range shots, with Leytonstone goalkeeper Kevin Rabey untroubled.
However Poplar got lucky 20 minutes into the game when the referee allowed play to go on, despite the linesman raising his flag for offside, to take a 1-0 lead.
Leytonstone replied with an incisive move allowing captain Ahmed Arab to fire home from close range.
Playing conditions were poor but Leytonstone could have taken the lead when Sergio Garcia missed a golden opportunity to score just before half-time.
Sergio Garcia and Ahmed Pele were among those to pass up good goalscoring opportunities after the break, misses which proved costly when Poplar scored late to progress to the semi-finals.
