PARIS Cowan-Hall hopes last season's injury problems are now in the past - enabling him to make more of a contribution on the pitch.

The former Plymouth man scored five times last season but was only able to show his ability in fits and starts as a series of niggling injuries stopped him getting a run of games.

He said he didn't feel he contributed to Wanderers' great escape from relegation due to spending so much time twiddling his thumbs in the medical room.

It's been a different story this season though, as not only are Blues flying high but Cowan-Hall has missed just three matches this year and put in arguably his most destructive performance as a Wanderers player in Saturday's win at Cheltenham.

Cowan-Hall netted the equalising goal with the home fans still celebrating their side's opener a minute previously, sending a scorching drive into the net via the woodwork.

His direct running was also a constant thorn in the Robins' side throughout Wycombe's 4-1 win and the winger hopes to continue with more of the same.

The 24-year-old said: "It's nice to have a run in the team. Last season was very stuttery for me. I had a couple of niggles, did me knee a couple of times. Hopefully after today I can reclaim my place in the starting line-up.

"It was massively frustrating, and on top of that we were struggling last season. It would have been nice for me to be able to contribute to us staying up.

"It was hard for me because I love to play, I love to train - sitting in the physio's room icing my knee and doing rehab isn't what I'm here for. It was very frustrating, but that's all part and parcel of football.

"We've got a new conditioning coach, Watesy [Dave Wates] - I've got him to thank for that, also Cian [O'Doherty] the physio."

Cowan-Hall added he was pleased to be the one to drag Wanderers back into Saturday's trip to Whaddon Road, following hot on the heels of the 3-1 home defeat by Burton Albion.

He said: "Monday was disappointing for all of us. The gaffer told us this week we had to put it right, which we did. That's the least we can give the gaffer.

"It was a great ball by Hayesy [for the goal]. To equalise so quickly after was a big boost for the team and we built on that.

"We're disappointed to concede from the set piece because we've been good from them for the majority of the season, and we will continue to be."
