Charlton manager Bob Peeters says he wants Diego Poyet and Michael Morrison to stay at The Valley.

Highly-rated youngster Poyet was linked with Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City at the weekend but is still considering an offer to remain with the Addicks.

The same applies to experienced defender Morrison, who is also mulling over a new deal from the Addicks, with Peeters determined to keep hold of the pair of them.

He said: “We hope so. Those are two players we are still talking with.

“Diego is a very talented player.

“He showed a lot of things last season. We would like him to stay but it is up to him now.

“We’ve made him an offer and we’ve stayed in contact since.

“Hopefully he makes a good decision and signs for Charlton.”

On Morrison, the boss added: “We would like him to stay but he is a free player at this moment.

“We gave him an offer and we are still on speaking terms.

“As a new gaffer I know he has played 50 games nearly last season so we would like him to stay but it is up to the player.

“We can only make him an offer and hopefully he will make the right decision.”

Peeters also dropped a big hint a new keeper was on the way after free agent Ben Hamer quit SE7 over the summer to join Leicester.

“Ben Hamer has gone to Leicester so we are in negotiation with a few targets, but at this moment I cannot answer that question because it is not a done deal.”
