Watford supporters have voted for the Hornets to wear black shorts with their 2014/2015 home kit.

The club decided to let fans decide whether this season’s home shirt would be accompanied by red shorts or black shorts and there were fewer than 200 votes between the two colours.

Almost 4,300 votes were cast before the June 15 deadline and 2,212 chose black while 2,072 opted for red.

Watford will therefore wear black and yellow for the third consecutive season. Red shorts will be used as the club’s second choice in the event of a kit clash.

I haven't been going since the club was formed so have no connection with the historic red shorts look and am therefore more than happy that my choice in the vote won the day.

That's jinxed promotion then. We only go up with the red. Suppose there's a first time for everything - let's hope so anyway

I'm happy that black shorts won the day but only if they are used with yellow socks otherwise red shorts and socks are certainly unique and eyecatching so will make a good alternative.
Whatever, let us all hope that our famous yellow shirts are soon gracing the Premier League and that the black and white change strip is appreciated by all and sundry for the right reasons.

I think he meant promoted to the top flight. We have only ever been promoted to the top flight in red shorts and our most successful seasons as a club we have worn red shorts. We have often worn red shorts...even the first seats in the new stand are red. About time we brought back the red shorts. Bored of the black and my happiest memories of the hornets were back in the 80s with John Barnes tight red shorts. :-) Either way lets hope for a successful season.
