Les Pilkington was born in Darwen, Lancashire.
A lightweight right-winger, Pilkington started five games in 15 months at Vicarage Road under Ron Gray without ever retaining his place in the side and left at the end of the catastrophic 1950/51 season which saw the club face re-election to the Football League.
