George Catleugh was born in Horden, County Durham.
Having been part of the Nuneaton side that knocked Len Goulden's Watford out of the FA Cup in 1953, he signed for Goulden the following summer and spent 11 seasons as a popular right-half at Vicarage Road, making 327 appearances for six different managers including 41 during the 1958/59 promotion campaign.
