Supporters group The 1881 are intending to use any money raised over the amount required to buy their legends banner to pay for another banner to recognise the 12 Watford players who served their country in World War One.

Earlier this week we reported The 1881 were asking fans to vote on which club greats should appear on a banner which will be displayed at Vicarage Road.

The 25m by 15m banner, which will display Graham Taylor and eight of the club’s greatest players, will cost £1800 and around £400 has so far been donated to this target, including some money the supporters’ movement had remaining from this season.

However, The 1881's Roy Moore has told the Watford Observer that if more than £1800 is donated, this will go towards another banner in honour of the Hornets’ dozen players from the Great War.

This comes after Watford said they will be donating £1 from the sale of their new black and white away kit, which was launched this lunchtime, to the Royal British Legion.

To make a donation for the legends banner, visit www.The1881.com. Fans are also reminded they have nine votes to help decide who should appear on the legends banner.
