Thirty years ago today Watford made their sole FA Cup final appearance to date against Everton at Wembley

Watford made their first appearance in an FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium. Their opponents were Everton, who were to win both the Football League and the European Cup Winners' Cup the following season.

The Toffees won the game 2-0, the much-discussed and resented second the result of Scottish centre-forward Andy Gray heading Steve Sherwood's arm and releasing the ball from his grasp.

The Hornets were captained by aggressive midfielder Les Taylor in the absence of the suspended Wilf Rostron; this, along with an unfortunate foot injury sustained by Steve Sims, contributed to the Hornets fielding a back four with an average age of under 20.

Is no one buying the book? Is this the reason we keep getting inundated with these articles? There's certainly no need to buy it now.

How could we ever forget the atmosphere that day? Wembley was a awash with yellow and despite the team changes we still managed to make a game of it.
What annoys me to this day is Andy Gray still won't admit that he headed Sherwood's arm. Grrrrr!

When Watford last played Everton in the F A Cup Gray was asked again for Soccer AM and he said " I couldn't give a monkeys" . That tells me he knew he fouled SS. Soccer AM did a poll and most said the goal should have been disallowed.
