Marco Cassetti has taken to Twitter tonight to reveal that his two-season stay at Vicarage Road is over.

The ‘Beard’, who was out of contract this summer, said: “I wanna just say thank you for everything to everyone of Watford FC’s family, fans, teammates etc etc. I really enjoyed my two years in England.”

Cassetti, who turns 37 later this month, played as a wing-back and a central defender with the Hornets, scoring one goal in a total of 81 appearances.

Prior to moving to Vicarage Road in August 2012 on a season-long loan, Cassetti enjoyed a fine career in Italy, becoming the first Lecce player to be capped by the national side - for whom he made five appearances - before he enjoyed six years with AS Roma.

During his time at the Hornets, Cassetti's family have remained in Italy and he spoke about them during an interview with the Watford Observer in March during when he discussed his enjoyment of playing in England.
