AUDIO: Beppe Sannino believes Watford's squad will be stronger next season - even if the club sell Troy Deeney

This Is Local London: Picture: Holly Cant Picture: Holly Cant

Troy Deeney has been described as the best player at Watford in terms of quality and personality, by the club’s head coach.

Deeney maintained a good level of performance as the season came to a close despite the Hornets ending the campaign with three very poor displays.

The striker followed his 20 goals during the 2013/14 season with another 25 this time around.

His performances during the last two years have led to interest from Premier League clubs and head coach Beppe Sannino believes that has helped maintain his form.

Sannino does not control the club’s recruitment but the Italian is confident the Golden Boys will have a stronger squad next season even if they do sell Deeney.

“I am the head coach and this matter [whether Watford will sell Deeney] is for the club but I’m sure the club will not weaken the squad [next season], they will make it stronger,” Sannino said.

“I think Troy is the best player at Watford in terms of quality and personality.

“He showed his disappointment to us about finishing the season in this way after last season finished with the play-off final. He showed his good performance and his commitment.

“He is aware there are teams from the Premier League who want to sign him so it is normal when you see this type of performance when you match those two things (Deeney’s commitment and the Premier League interest).”

Can't be much worse than this season...13th position.

Troy will leave for about 6 million,

Must get rid of manager
Chamberlain
Bond
Doyley
Plus others

We still have about 10 good players...

Get either Malky
Billy Davis
Or Neil Warnock

These guys will get Watford promoted to premiership.

Do it now Watford,we have 3 months to next game.

If Warnock or Davis came, my season ticket would go back. Not that they will though, as I assume all three would demand salaries higher than we would be willing to pay.

And I'd of sacked Taylor for dropping Pat Rice in cup final for neil Price... Playing Plumley over Sherwood in SF v Spurs
And for not playing Andy Andy Rankin until he dropped ( what a goalie)

Not too sure why some guy wanted Bond, Chamberlain and Doyley out. Doyley has had a good season overall. Bond is 20/21 years old and so is always going to make mistakes. Chamberlain has clearly not done badly as he was at the club last season with the same goalkeepers. I reckon if Deeney does leave then we will probably receive arounds £5 million for him.

It seems most likely that webe very fortunate to get Troy to stay. Only he FF, and had if he had of been fit, did Almen also show the guts needed for this league. Football is a hard game. I recall that the almost home grown keepers such as Lee, Loach, Bonham and now Bondt are not up to scratch. Alec must share some of the blame but perhaps the aforementioned just did not have it in them to make the grade as a reliable keeper at the Championship level. Would like to see Malky back but with Nani calling the shots would any Brit manager/coach job when Nani decides either the good, and there has been some, or the very bad players that are given to the coach?

Its time to take stock of what we need and what we dont
Deeney will probably leave if it seems unlikely
the club will be ruthless and cut out the deadwood
3-5-2 does not work as a system week in week out
Almunia, Pudil, Angella, Ekstrand, Abdi, Anya,
Forestieri, Deeney and Toszer are very good players
The rest are average.Watford need another good goalkeeper, a good defender/captain and a ruthless
striker.All with championship experience.

My understanding was Dyche wanted Heaton and a contract was agreed verbally, then he was sacked and deal was scrapped?
It's been a season that promised so much, then we had a really bad two months that saw Zola depart! Beppe did a good job upto recently but after the QPR result the players lost the motivation to play and he couldn't get them to play! The last few games summed it up really: squad is better than last year but we lack passion and a second quality striker! And without Abdi it has been tough!
We have real quality in Abdi, Deeney, Angella, FF, Hoban, Ekstrand and Anya, I just hope they give it another season!
We need to add by buying proven Championship quality players as there are some at the club who arnt up to the graft or are of the quality that we need to get promotion!
However off the pitch we are in such a strong position and we will have a 4 sided stadium next season! The Pozzo's arnt magicians and it isn't easy but I just hope theyved learned from the mistakes in the squad this season and do there business early so we have a settled side of better character come the start of next season!
At least we don't have to give away our prize assets anymore but I just suppose it depends if they want to stay?
Personally I'd be happy to see an experienced championship boss like Malky come in but then again it's all about the money but we are a more attractive proposition now compared to say 3 years ago!
Here's to lessons learned and a much better 2014/15 season!

I think the choice of who starts next season as manager will say a lot about the mindset of the club owners. if they stick with Sannino or bring in another foreign manager then it shows that they think they are doing the right thing so far and will carry on in the same manner. If they look for a british manager (or other proven manager at this level) then it suggests an admission that he current system is not working and a more pragmatic approach with promotion being the overriding objective.
Personally nothing could make me look forward to next season more than getting Zola back in, with a tried and trusted no. 2 in this country and give him the assurance the job is his until he feels he can no longer do it properly. Getting Malky back would also seem a good choice. Bring in Warnock, Billy Davis or Dave Jones and I will cry - just saying.
