Troy Deeney has been described as the best player at Watford in terms of quality and personality, by the club’s head coach.
Deeney maintained a good level of performance as the season came to a close despite the Hornets ending the campaign with three very poor displays.
The striker followed his 20 goals during the 2013/14 season with another 25 this time around.
His performances during the last two years have led to interest from Premier League clubs and head coach Beppe Sannino believes that has helped maintain his form.
Sannino does not control the club’s recruitment but the Italian is confident the Golden Boys will have a stronger squad next season even if they do sell Deeney.
“I am the head coach and this matter [whether Watford will sell Deeney] is for the club but I’m sure the club will not weaken the squad [next season], they will make it stronger,” Sannino said.
“I think Troy is the best player at Watford in terms of quality and personality.
“He showed his disappointment to us about finishing the season in this way after last season finished with the play-off final. He showed his good performance and his commitment.
“He is aware there are teams from the Premier League who want to sign him so it is normal when you see this type of performance when you match those two things (Deeney’s commitment and the Premier League interest).”
