Lochlan Bearman sit top of the MiniMax Stars Championship at Whilton Mill after a fourth placed finish on Sunday.

The 12-year-old Theydon Bois racer began round four of the championship in second place, enjoying a good practise session on Saturday.

In the first heat of the race, Bearman came out in second after swapping places for the lead five times.

The second heat saw Bearman begin 31st out of 34 drivers, but the youngster fought his way up the standings to finish 13th.

Heat three saw Bearman produced another impressive drive before a mechanical fault forced his retirement.

Had Bearman been able to maintain his sixth position, he would have started on the front row for the final.

Despite that setback, Bearman started the final 14th on the grid and drove well to earn fourth spot and as a result, his first trophy at Wilton Mill, Gloucester.

Speaking afterwards, Bearman said: “This trophy was hard earned but I feel I deserved it. I had fastest lap in the final and feel that if the chain had not broken then I could have won.”

Bearman returns to Kimbolton on May 11th looking to build on his current position of eighth in the standings.
