Watford and Doncaster Rovers have agreed to extend Lucas Neill's loan spell until the end of the season, with the previous month-long agreement expiring.

Neill, who joined the Hornets on a short-term contract at the end of February, started in his first three games at Doncaster but has been injured for the last three.

The 36-year-old could make a return for Saturday's match with Reading, when Rovers will be hoping to secure the points needed to ensure their survival - they are currently one point above the relegation zone.

Neill only played six minutes as a substitute during his month at Watford, although he was in the 18-man squad for all five matches.

We understand he is on a very modest wage at Watford and that Doncaster are paying all of his wages during the loan spell.

If Donny are paying all of his wages fine. Yet why did some moron bring him to us? 36 years old and not what we needed and now injured up in Donny. I despair at some of our loans. At least Lucas stayed on the pitch for his glorious 6 minutes and was not sent off. Ahhh!

Quite agree. A couple of these deals have been very perplexing to say the least.

To add experience of English football to a backline conceding a late goal in every game. I thought it was quite obvious, if a little misjudged.

I think with it being a second season for the likes of Angella and Faraoni, we'll be far more clued-up at the back next year.

Diakita has not worked at all , but they didn't know that Tozser would hit the ground running and be so good. They were looking for strength in midfield and toszer with Abdi coming back make diakita look a bad deal. Park was a last minute panic by Nani as fans were desparate for a striker , Wenger couldn't wait to get rid of him from the training ground. Lucas Neill was an old mates favour from Nani and Duxberry however it shows how strong Sannino is by playing who he wanted too and not bending over to Nani to play his friend.

Thanks for the info Jason, what chance of getting shot of Nani any time soon?

There are loans and then there are loans. Anyone arriving on loan when they are a fringe squad player from a country playing in the world cup, but currently unable to get a game, is probably happy to play anywhere at all (even Doncaster) just to give themselves a chance of getting on the plane. I don't imagine we paid anything much at all for Neil or Park...

Neil was bizarre but costs us nothing.

Park & Diakite will both cost us a lot for negligible game time. Bad mistakes. There needs to be better communication between Nani and Beppe - there's no point in getting these loans in if Beppe doesn't want them.
