Watford and Doncaster Rovers have agreed to extend Lucas Neill's loan spell until the end of the season, with the previous month-long agreement expiring.

Neill, who joined the Hornets on a short-term contract at the end of February, started in his first three games at Doncaster but has been injured for the last three.

The 36-year-old could make a return for Saturday's match with Reading, when Rovers will be hoping to secure the points needed to ensure their survival - they are currently one point above the relegation zone.

Neill only played six minutes as a substitute during his month at Watford, although he was in the 18-man squad for all five matches.

We understand he is on a very modest wage at Watford and that Doncaster are paying all of his wages during the loan spell.
